Some race results are included below but also see Results tab for results for Uckfield Runners in recent races.

Emma started had the first meeting of the beginners group on Thursday 7 February. This group is aimed at beginner jogger and non runners. There was an amazing turnout with 40 plus beginners for the first evening. Fortunately Emma had support from Rachael, Hen, Peter, Ray, Tanya, Kirsty & Jenny. Well done to Emma and her supportors. The group is lead by Emma Hyland who has completed the Run England leadership in running course. The group meet on Thursday evenings at 7.30pm at Freedom Leisure Uckfield. Please contact the club on the website address below if you are interested.

Six of our runners completed Chichester 10k, the first Sussex Grand Pric race of the 2013 Season. Chichester is a fairly flat course (at least for Sussex). The weather was cold but dry. Well done to Brain King who ran a PB in a credible 45.52. The runners from Uckfield were: Graham West , Brian king, Catherine Harker, Tanya Edmondson, Peter Wilkes, Ray Edmondsons.

A cold but dry day, apart from the odd flurry of snow, for this two lap undulating course throught scenic Woodland. Plenty of hills and plenty of mud made this a 'proper' cross country.

The combined Uckfield/Heathfield team was fourth behind Lewes, Hailsham and Crowborough Heathfield. We retain fourth position in the league with 4 races down and 2 to go.

Well done to Ryan, Graham, Jason, Catherine (pictured), Tanya and Peter running from Uckfield. See Results tab for results.

It was dry but windy day which greated the runners for the third race of the 2012/13 season. There was a good turnout from Uckfield with nine runners. We had seven at the first race, eight last time and now nine, I shall be looking for at least ten at the next race. Running from Uckfield were, Terry (pictured), Ryan, Shaun, Graham, Rachael, Catherine, Tanya, Peter and Adele. We run this as a joint team with Heathfield and finished fourth team thus retaining our position as fourth. Well done to all who ran. There are three more races to go. For times of our runners see the Results tab which also has a link to full results and there are more photos on the Photos tab.

It was club social run for boxing day with a 5 mile run and non running family invited for a country walk. In alphebetical order Adele, Ciaran, Colin, Graham, Jo (pictured), Kirsty (pictured), Lynn, Peter, Ray, Sarah, Tanya, and Wayne did the run with various family members on the walk. Adele wins the prize for best family turnout with a total of 6 family members crossing three generations: well done Adele. It was a really nice run, splendid views with Coffees/Teas, mince pies and nibbles afterwards. Thank you Ray and Tanya for hosting such a great event. There are a couple more pictures on the photos page.

Only rained all the time and the puddles were never deeper than a few inches. Terry 19,13, Graham 22.04 and Brian 23.13 endured the elements with Terry finishing third overall and Graham finishing first man over 50.

As it was the last Tuesday club run before Christmas a Christmas theme was adopted with our runners exhibiting varous Santa Hats, Tinsle, Fairy wings and even a tutu with lights. We then ran around Uckfield checking out the best Christmas light displays. There were certainly some impressive displays, of lights, Santas, Christmas messages, Reindeer and Polar bears. Have a good Christmas.

Well we don't just run so for a change here is a pictures of people eating and dancing instead of running. No prizes for identifying the stars on the stage. Dancing pictures were taken with a phone so apologise for the picture. Good food, wine, music and company made for a very good recent. Trophies were awarded for highest scoring man and lady in the Sussex Grand Prix with Graham West winning the Mens and Catherine Harker the ladies. Please see Photos for more pictures from the night. Back to normal on Sunday (after allowing time to recover: recovery is always important to runners) with groups running the Buxted Lanes, Ashdown Forest and the Conveyor belt run depending on preference.

It was cold but bright day which saw a good turnout from Uckfield with 5 ladies and 5 men. Crowborough is not the fastest of courses with 2 laps of a course which mainly consists of one big hill (it is a 'Marillyn' and I understand the only Urban Marillyn in the Country, a Marillyn is a hill with a rise of at least 150m from its base). First home for the men as Mark Slaughter followed by Graham West. Jo Oulton was first lady (pictured) from Uckfield Runners followed by Jenny Graham. Making up the 10 was James Morrall, Shaun Furlong, Ryan West, Peter Wilkes, Kirsty Simpkins, Tanya Edmondson and Sarah Cozens. Well done to everyone. More photos on the photos page and results for our runners on the results page.

Could not have been a better day for the Brighton 10k. In spite of it being November the sun shone the weather was warm and no wind. This is a fast flat course but being on the Seafront is very vulnerable to the elements: on day like this it is a really good race. Running from Uckfield were Graham West (pictured) 43.45, Catherine Harker 50.06, Sarah Ballinger 54.53, Lynne Mckay 57.57 and Milly Edmondson 64.09.

Tanya Edmondson travelled a little further to complete the Valencia Marathon in a very credible 4 hours 35min whilst Ray Edmondson completed the Valencia 10k in 61minute. Well done Tanya and Ray.

Another glorious sunny day in spite of it now being November. With views of the sea what more could you want: OK and escalator to take us back up the hill might have been useful. Just the one hill on this one: two miles down and then two miles backup.

It was a good turnout for Uckfield with Graham, Ryan, Chris, Catherine, Peter, Tanya, Adele and Milly all turning out for the club. Ryan again missing out on the team photo (OK Ryan I will agree it with your agency first next time) along with Chris and Catherine. More photos on the photo tab. Overall the joint Uckfield/Heathfield team finished fourth behind Lewes, Hailsham and Eastbourne. With the fifth place in the first event we have now moved up to fourth overall out of the nine teams in the league. Well done everyone. Individual results are on the results tab.

Also well done to Anita Leigh for completing the Bexhill Half Marathon on the same day: her first half marathon.

A good turnout for this event. Having been spoiled with a mild October until Friday 26 October all change for Beachy with temperatures at the start of 2c and a biting North Wind. Having run to date in shorts and vest or T Shirt out come the tracksters, hat, gloves and long sleeve top. Still it was bright and mostly dry, except for sleet at about 1.40pm driven by wind which meant it hurt, all apart from Rachael (pictured) who finished quick enough to miss the onslaught. Racheal (pictured finishing and still some how looking good) lead us all home with an amazing time of 4hours 36, 11 minutes off her personal best. Hen also had an excellent run finishing in 5hours 39 mins and incredible 44 mins off her personal best. Well done to both Rachael and Hen. Also running and tackling both the hills and conditions were Graham, Will, Fleur, Emma H, Caley and Judith, guys heavily outnumbered by the girls on this one. More Photos on the Photos Page and times on the results page.

Congratulations also to Lynne who ran The Great South Run in Portsmouth, here first 10 miler.

Again the weather forecast earlier in the week had promised sun on Saturday and rain on Sunday, and again fortunately all change for the day, blue skies seafront location little wind what more could you want. Quite a good turn with Seven of our Runners, Garry, Graham, Dan, Ryan, Peter, Tanya and Christine (Ryan missing out on the team photo). Good to see some of our newer runners Dan, Ryan and Christine running for the club at the is event. We run as part of a joint team and filled all 15 (Heathfield had 25 runners) of the categories which make up a team (10men, 5 ladies and various age categories in each). We finished fifth out of the 10 teams, which given the strength of the other clubs in the league was a respectable finish. Well done to everyone who attended. It was excellent day and good to participate in and event as a team. Hopefully a few more will be able to attend the next race. See results tab for times and photo tab for more pictures.

Also on Sunday Caley Pearce and Judith Pyett completed the 20 mile jog shop jog in 4 hours 22min. This is a tough off road event over the South Downs, starting from Brighton Marina and heading towards Lewes.

The weather forecast earlier in the week for this weekend had promised sun on Saturday and rain on Sunday, fortunately all change for the day, greated by blue skys boosted the spirits as we lined up for this scenic run over the downland just north of Lewes. Starts by the old race course at Lewes. There is a 5 mile and 10 mile. The start is the same, the 5mile goes up the first hill and back down whilst the 10 mile, descends into the valley up a second hill than back into a second valley where any hope of keeping your shoes clean rapidly disapeared, finally a third hill then descend to finish. Tea and cake gratefully provided by Peter at the end. A very pleasant run.

10 mile: Graham West 1hr 22.55, David Gibb 1hr 33.41, Peter Wilkes 1hr 46.38, Tanya Edmondson 1hr 46.39

5 mile: Christine Tait 46.57, Ray Edmondson 50.33

Graham 1hr 42, Jo 1hr 51 and Catherine 1hr 58 completed the Barns Green Half Marathon today. The weather was ideal, cool dry and little wind although the course itself has never been one of the faster courses in Sussex.

Jo, Lynne, Sara, Lisa & Richard ran the Uckfield Lions 7k on Friday. This was the postponed and shortened distance following cancellation of the planned 10k in July due to flooding on the course

On Sunday 16 September Peter, Tanya and Lynne competed in the Hove 10k.

Graham (Pictured) being a glutton for punishment choose to run up and down a big hill all weekend in the Isle of Wight Fell Runs, 3mile race Saturday morning, 7.5mile in the afternoon and 12 miles on Sunday.

We participated in the Samsung hope Relay which finished with the end of the Paraolympics on Sunday 9 September. For each mile we ran walked or cycled using the Hope relay App until 9 September Samsung donated £1 to charity. An excellent effor between us we raised £758. Emma H retains the Gold medal position amazingly breaking £200 with £201 raised, Graham in Silver £151, not far behind Rachel with £141 overtook Tara £124 in the closing stages for the Bronze medal. Well done for all those who took part.

Graham, Martin, Catherine and Nikki ran the Hellingly 10k. Bit hot for running really but got a great tan and it was nice to see the sun out. See Results tab for times.

Busy weekend with 3 runners in the Will Page 10k and 7 in the Kings Head Canter. Tanya, Catherine & Wayne ran the Newick 10k and Will, Fleur, Christine, Martin, Nikki, Linda Partrick & Peter the Kings Head Canter. Times are on the results page.
