On the Sunday morning we met up for a 5 mile run round the Newplace Farm cross country course followed by tea and cake. There were 15 runners being a mix of Uckfield and Heathfield.

It was a cold but bright day for the Buxted Park Reindeer run. There were 10k, 5k and 1k races. Graham West won the 10k race in 46.17 with Emma Hyland and Laura Grove coming in together in 69.18. Running in the 5k race were Rebecca Holden in 35.14 and Lorraine West in 53.41 sporting and excellent t shirt with a reindeer on it. This was a family event and Sam Kedwards and Phil Nixon running in the 1k race with their respective children: great to see the next generation of Uckfield Runners taking part.

There was a good turnout from Uckfield for the Crowborourgh 10 with 14 running. This was the last Sussex Grand Prix event of the year. Running in the 10k were, Jamie Keddie 39.45, Graeme Hall 41.44, Richard Coates 43.05, Graham West 43.59, Andrew Stolton 48.08, Jamie Fox 48.14, Robert Paterson 53.45, Alison Clews 54.08, Sonia Edmondson 54.49, Christopher Lugg 56.02, Sarah Ballinger 57.57, Samantha Kedwards 58.07, Tanya Edmondson 58.36, Peter Wilkes 58.56. I would regard this as the slowest road 10k course in sussex with two laps each involving a very steep hill and yet Sam Kedwards managed to run a 10k PB on the course, well done Sam. Also Talya Edmondson ran in the 5k event with a time of 34 minutes.

It was a very pleasant day for the 2nd cross country of the season with the sun out overlooking the sea. As it was Rememberance Sunday there was a short reading and minute silence before we lined up for the start. Warren Hill is a demanding course, starting at the top of the hill after about 1/3 mile slight incline there is a two mile descent and then 2 mile back up then an undulating finish but being chalk downland it is not very muddy. It was a strong turnout form Uckfield with 12 runners, 8 men and 4 ladies and with the support of the 10 runners from our partner club in the cross country league we filled the full team of 10 men and 5 ladies with all the various age categories. Running from Uckfield were Graeme Hall, Richard Coates, Graham West, Andy Taylor, Julia Jones, Stewart Gasson, Jason Remington, Richard Page, Catherine Harker, Chris Lugg, Christine Tait and Tanya Edmondson. Overall the team finished 6th out of the 12 teams in the league and are now joint 4th with Crowborough/Wadhurst and Hailsham Harriers. It was a good result given it was such a competitive event with all clubs showing a good turnout and a total of 251 runners in the event.
Emma and Dayle also organised a social run from Fairwarp to the airmans grave on Ashdown Forest where Uckield Runners was part of the official wreath laying ceremony.

Great result for the first cross country of 2016/17 with a third place finish behind Lewes and Crowborough/Wadhurst. It was very pleasant sunny day, first time I have run this course and it has not been either heavy mud or frozen solid but in past years it has been later in the season. Well done to all those who ran, Graeme Hall, Richard Coates, Graham West, Bad Mohandas, Richard Page, Jason Remington, Chris Lugg and Tanya Edmondson. Strong turnout from the men but would be nice to see a couple more ladies and the next one, Warren Hill on 13 November.
